Key Stage 1
Mrs Debs Miller, Mrs Emily Way and Miss Caleigh Battishill are the Key Stage 1 teachers and are supported by Mrs Mandy Bentley, Miss Jayne Pharaoh, Mrs Katie Quick, Mrs Jackie Taylor-Miller, Mrs Amanda Elliott, Miss Kate Tovey, Mr Christopher Wilson Date and Mrs Corrina Aitchison.
We place a high emphasis on the development of basic skills in year 1 and 2. We focus heavily on the development of reading through our RWI programme as we believe that reading is the key to future learning. We aim to get all children through the RWI programme by the end of year 2. We also focus on the development of the KS1 key objectives in maths and spend a considerable amount of time supporting the children in their social and emotional development. Our aim to is to promote a positive attitude to learning by introducing the children to the rest of the Building Learning Powers and encouraging them to begin to take responsibility for their own learning.
