Learning
Wilcombe is bursting with learning! We want all children to thrive and become lifelong learners. Primary schools are safe places for children to learn and develop as an individual. Knowledge (in all of it's forms) will inevitably be learnt in schools as will social skills and learning dispositions. Our school uses Chris Quigley's milestones to underpin the teaching and learning of subject specific knowledge ensuring that the acquisition of knowledge is progressive. We also tap into Guy Claxton's learning powers to ensure that children learn about and understand the essential ingredients to learn and grow. Cognitive science is key to understanding how we support children to learn and remember knowledge as they progress through our school.
Home learning is set so that children can practise and remember information and procedures that they have learnt in school, this practise reinforces learning in school and allows parents to engage with their children's learning as well.
